We believe that education is key to creating empowerment and independence. Our program is designed to provide young people with the resources and guidance they need to achieve their goals.

I AM ABLE is designed for youth ages 15 to 21.

We are here to Empower You so that you feel that...
I am able to take control of my own life and make decisions that align with my values and goals.
I am able to overcome obstacles and challenges that come my way, and come out stronger on the other side.
I am able to identify and express my emotions in a healthy and constructive way.
I am able to advocate for myself and my needs, and seek out the support and resources that I deserve.
I am able to embrace my individuality and unique qualities, and celebrate what makes me special.
I am able to take responsibility for my own growth and development, and strive to be the best version of myself.

Financial Literacy

6 sessions

Empowering youth with financial literacy is an essential aspect of preparing them for independence and success in the future. At Sunnyside Up Youth Pregnancy Services’, I AM ABLE Youth Development Program, we recognize that financial literacy is a fundamental life skill that can positively impact young people’s lives. By providing education on budgeting, saving, credit management, and investing, we aim to equip our program participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed financial decisions and create a strong foundation for their future financial well-being.

GED Prep

Getting a high school diploma is critical to building a successful future. For those who did not finish high school, obtaining a General Educational Development (GED) credential can be a second chance to gain the skills and knowledge needed to achieve their goals. With a GED, young adults have access to higher education, better employment opportunities, and the ability to provide for themselves and their families. At Sunnyside Up Youth Pregnancy Services, we recognize the importance of education and offer GED preparation as part of our I AM ABLE Youth Development Program. Education is a powerful tool for empowerment and independence, and we are committed to helping young adults achieve their educational and career goals.

College Prep

4 sessions

College graduates typically earn more money and have more job opportunities than those without a college degree. However, applying for college can be an intimidating process, especially for young adults who are first-generation college students or come from low-income backgrounds. That’s why getting help with college applications can be a game-changer for many young adults. Through our I AM ABLE Youth Development program, we provide college prep services to help our youth navigate the college application process and access the resources they need to succeed.

Job Placement

6 sessions

Preparing young adults for the workforce is essential for their future success. At Sunnyside Up Youth Pregnancy Services, we believe that providing career development resources and training can help youth become confident and competent in their professional pursuits. By offering job readiness workshops, resume building assistance and interview skills training, we empower young adults to take charge of their careers and achieve their goals. Through our I AM ABLE Youth Development Program, we aim to equip young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the workforce and become valuable members of their communities.

Life Skills

6 sessions

Having adequate life skills empowers young people and increases their independence and self-awareness. When young adults are equipped with skills such as time management, basic home repair and maintenance, and communication skills, including conflict resolution and active listening, they are better prepared to navigate the challenges of adulthood. By developing these life skills, young people are able to make informed decisions about their future, set achievable goals, and confidently pursue their passions. Furthermore, these skills help them become self-sufficient and resilient, which can lead to improved mental health and overall well-being. Ultimately, investing in the development of life skills in young people has the potential to impact their lives and the communities they live in positively.

Household Management

6 sessions

Managing a household is an important life skill that is essential for young adults to learn in order to become self-sufficient and independent. It involves managing finances, maintaining a living space, cooking and meal planning, and taking care of oneself and others. Through the I AM ABLE Youth Development program, Sunnyside Up Pregnancy Services aims to equip young adults with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage their households and successfully navigate the transition into adulthood.

Healthy Living

6 sessions

Self-care and healthy living are critical components of overall well-being, particularly for young adults. Taking care of your physical, emotional, and mental health is essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and reducing the risk of chronic diseases later in life. Incorporating regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep can improve mood, boost energy levels, and reduce stress. Additionally, engaging in activities promoting relaxation and mindfulness, such as meditation and yoga, can enhance overall well-being. Encouraging young adults to prioritize self-care can help them develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
