What We Do

Dear Moms, Breastfeeding is a beautiful journey that you and your baby are embarking on together. It's a time of bonding, nurturing, and growing closer. Remember, every drop of milk you provide is a testament to your strength and love. There may be challenges along the way, but each one is a step towards creating a healthy and loving foundation for your little one. You're doing an incredible job, and it's important to recognize and celebrate the small victories each day. Whether it's the first successful latch, the peaceful moments when your baby is content in your arms, or the times you overcome a hurdle—every moment counts and makes a difference. Trust your body, trust your instincts, and know that you are capable and resilient. Surround yourself with support, lean on those who care about you, and never hesitate to seek help when needed. You're not alone on this journey. Your dedication and perseverance are inspiring. Keep going, mama. You're doing wonderfully, and your baby is so lucky to have you. With admiration and support, Cicely & the Sunnyside Up Youth Pregnancy Services Team

FAQ

Breastfeeding is highly beneficial for both mother and baby. It provides optimal nutrition, supporting the baby’s growth and development with essential vitamins, proteins, and antibodies that boost the immune system. For mothers, breastfeeding helps with postpartum recovery, reducing the risk of certain cancers and enhancing the bond between mother and child. Additionally, it’s cost-effective and convenient, always available at the right temperature. By choosing to breastfeed, moms give their babies a healthy start in life while also taking care of their own health and well-being.

To be best prepared, we recommend taking a breastfeeding education class around 34 weeks of pregnancy. By taking a class prior to birth, you will gain a better understanding of how your hormones play a factor in successful breastfeeding and how to navigate breastfeeding the first 12 weeks. After birth, we will assign you a breastfeeding specialist to offer you further assistance if needed. We can answer any questions you may have.

We do! Not only do we offer a breastfeeding education class to get you prepared for successful breastfeeding, but we also offer pregnancy support specialists to offer in-home or virtual support. Register for a class here or reach out to talk with one of our specialists!
